Prime Minister and Chairman of CPN Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has taken the stand of not giving Home Ministry to Ravi Lamichhane.
The Supreme Court declared him to be a non-citizen and revoked the post of Minister, MP and Chairman of the National Independent Party.
Lamichhane demanded to be made a minister in accordance with the constitutional provision that a non-MP can become a minister for 6 months after re-citing citizenship from the district administration office in Kathmandu.
However, Prachanda has taken a stand not to make Lamichhane a minister saying that the issue of the right-wing passport is under consideration and the full text of the Supreme Court on citizenship has not yet arrived. After the Prime Minister’s stance, Ravi’s party has prepared to leave the government.
It is seen that the ruling coalition will collapse before the presidential election. After this, a new equation appears to be formed. The ruling partner UML is in favor of handing over the Ministry of Home Affairs to the RSVP as per the previous agreement. They are also putting pressure on Prime Minister Prachanda to comply with the agreement.
