The Philippines has granted US safe access to its 4 additional military base areas.
With the Philippines agreeing to grant it safe access, the US has become easier to monitor the Chinese in the South China Sea and around Taiwan.
The agreement between the US and the Philippines on Thursday ensured the influence of the US alliance, which extends from South Korea and Japan in the north to Australia in the south.
The agreement between the Philippines and the United States, which was made public after US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin met with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., has strengthened the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement 9EDCA, which has been in place for a long time, and will receive US assistance in dealing with humanitarian and climate disasters in the Philippines.
In addition, the strategic partnership between Manila and Washington has expanded further.
“The Philippines and the United States are proud to announce that they will speed up the full implementation of the agreement reached with the agreement to provide military access to 4 new locations of strategic importance,” said a joint statement issued after the agreement.
The former president of the Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte, had refused to allow more American troops to be stationed in its waters in order to prevent bitterness in his country’s relationship with China.
He believed that a conflict with China would not be beneficial for any country, not just America.
